I have new work to share, and have recently been going through a peacock blue and copper phase (doesn’t everyone?)Â I was going to title this post something about my “blue period”, but one, it sounded stupid, and two, it brings up a sort of melancholy vibe, which I am anything but right now.
What I’m really attracted to is how copper and blue vibrate and resonate against each other in a way that is electric, and about as anti-melancholy as you can get.
Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and the holidays that follow. As I travel out of state to meet my future family, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things. Holidays seem to bring out one of two reactions in people: excitement, or dread. People and places seem to either resonate with our energy, or pull it down — a sort of emotional gravitational force. But these emotions aren’t defined by the people & places any more than the “emotion” of blue is dictated by its color. They are defined by the interactions. Some interactions are vibrant, and electric, and dynamic, and energizing. And some are not. The beauty of interacting is that we are always half of the equation.
(p.s. peacock blue feather, an experiment in cut metal which I shall never attempt again:)
So this week I hope to leave you will a little thought: find the people and places who energize you. And when you are in situations where that is not the case, remember that you can be the one that enhances and energizes the world around you.
Before I go, a couple of points of interest… I’ve had quite a few emails requesting my holiday schedule! I will be reposting pertinent info as things get closer, but here’s the short version:
Friday, November 26 — Big Box Detox at Blush Boutique, 9pm to Midnight (1783 Coventry Road, Cleveland Heights OH)
——this should be a fun, lovely little show! Five artists and a cheesecake maker; it will be more like a trunk show meets hip gallery opening.
Sat/ Sun December 4th/ 5th — ArtCraft! Top notch show will lots of great artists, downtown Cleveland. The one you’ve been waiting for. Come here if you want to see the full line of my work, or discuss custom projects. If you are not on the mailing list and want a postcard, reply with your address!
December 4th — Mayfield Market, Mayfield Village Civic Center. Nature-inspired art show to support the garden club — a lovely event for eastsiders :)
December 18 — Last Minute Market by Cleveland Handmade! Held in the Wooltex building in Lakewood, a killer newer show that draws artists from across the Midwest. You’ll find a great selection of gift-worthy items here; well worth a last-minute trip.
You’ll also be able to find my work at River Gallery in their holiday exhibit (Rocky River, OH) and Juma Gallery in the old schoolhouse in Little Italy, Cleveland OH. And LOTS of new items online at http://www.copperleafstudios.com in my shop.
Want more info on anything from above?
you know where to find me :)
