A Bit of Business
So I’ve been promising to share new work! Â I’m a bit of a pragmatic at heart, so I’m going to start with these little guys before getting all sappy on you. Â These new business card holders are the perfect blend of fun and functional, and are completely customizable.
They started as a special request from a customer, and developed into a lovely little line. Â Locally hand crafted from wenge, a hardwood with a dark chocolatey grain (people often don’t realize the wood isn’t stained), they are the perfect frame for a small metal art panel. Â The front is angled slightly to show off the artwork, and they hold a ton of business cards without feeling thick or clunky. Â The wood is finished with just a bit of danish oil for luster, and the metal is sealed with enamel.
The ones I’ve made so far have been simple but lovely ~ a bit of texture and a splash of color. Â The copper maple leaf (top) is a classic design of mine, and pairs beautifully with the dark border. Â The swirl versions focus more on pattern, and have a bit of a feminine quality — a nice contrast to the many business accessories out there that look like they could double as a whiskey flask. Â Both designs are available in copper, crimson, deep green, teal blue, and plum.
Custom versions can use either a zinc (silver) or copper base, and can include pretty much whatever you want: a name, logo, picture, or drawing. Â Crisp, clear images work best, and if you don’t know what you want, a simple name in a nice font works beautifully! Â They make a great gift for those celebrating a new job or promotion, a bit of encouragement for a young entrepreneur, or a classy display for an art or trade show. Â They’re sturdy enough to handle larger items — heavier paper items like postcards or envelopes work great (I actually use mine for household bills when I’m not doing a show).
If you’re interested in any of the items above, click on an image for more information. Â Individual holders are $35, and custom versions are currently priced the same. Â For custom versions, simply email your design ideas to me at email@example.com . Â I’ll send you a photoshop sketch, and once you approve of a design, you’ll receive an email invoice and your holder will be shipped to you in about a week!
Take care, and have a great week :)
