Hello my friends,
Life has been lovely and creative lately, and soon I’ll have a whole batch of new artwork to share. Â I’ve been prepping for the upcoming Cain Park Arts Festival, and hope to debut some lovely new art cards, a new business card holder design, and a brand new series of metal photos based on photographs taken at the historic Lakeview Cemetery.
Unlike last year when I did a lot of traveling, this year I’ve decided to stick closer to home.  I am only participating in one summer show — one that is near and dear to me.  If you’re in the Northeast Ohio area, please join me this weekend at Cain Park!  Located in a beautiful park/ theater complex in Cleveland Heights, this is a high-calibur juried fine art and craft show.  Hours are Friday 3-8pm, Sat 10am-8pm, and Sun noon-5pm.  (Friday is free; $5 adult admission Sat/ Sun.  You can find more info here: http://www.cainpark.com/index.aspx?page=676 )  And because I love you, here’s a parking tip: it is a well-kept secret that streets north of the park always have tons of free spots available, because everyone parks along the south side.  If you’re in the area, please do stop by and say hello!
This month has been marked by a lovely bit of press. Â I’ve been honored to have my artwork included in Cabin Life, a magazine with 50,000 readers that talks about anything and everything related to living, vacationing, fishing, boating, and dining along the Great Lakes region. Â The exposure has resulted in a burst of commissioned maps, including this one of Upper Saranac Lake:
Custom pieces like these make up most my custom work during summer months, as people purchase them to decorate their vacation homes — or their office, to remind themselves of where they’d rather be. Â I wish I could say I was good at geography as a student, but the truth is most of what I know of the world’s landscape came from cutting metal. Â As long as my geography teacher never finds out, it’s all good ;)
Take care, and have a great week!
